Summer Memories

In this project, I wanted to explore the idea of ambiguity through visual language. After much consideration, I decided to incorporate mosaic patterns, which are inherently fragmented yet unified. The flowers I remember from my grandparents’ home are now embedded within these mosaics, making their species unrecognizable.

This distortion mirrors my own fading memory: although I can no longer recall exactly what kinds of flowers my grandmother planted, the warmth of those memories remains untouched. In my dreams, butterflies often appear among these flowers, merging past and imagination.

This imagery reminded me of Zhuangzi’s “Butterfly Dream,” inspiring me to let butterflies become the main characters, gently drifting through the scenes, blurring the boundary between memory and dream.
